Johnny Steve Champion age 68 of Forest City passed away on Tuesday September 10, 2019.

He was the son of Howard Champion and the late Aline Champion. Steve was born August 27, 1951 in Rutherford County. He worked at AGI for 17 years in the paint department and many of his co-workers nicknamed him Paint Thinner. Steve was a people person and he never met a stranger. He loved Elvis music, camping, NASCAR racing, and cooking in dutch ovens. But most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He had two fur babies Babygirl and Zena. He attended Wilson Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. He loved the church and church family.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 41 years, Jackie Champion, two sons; Todd Champion of Lenior and B.J. Champion (Amber) of Forest City, one sister; Chris Hutchins and one brother; Robert Champion (Robin), three grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at Wilson Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
