Joyce Smith Kimbrell, age 79

Joyce Smith Kimbrell, age 79, of Forest City, NC, passed away August 16, 2012.

Joyce was born June 28, 1933 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Charlie Calhoun Smith and Eliza Rebecca Davis Smith.  She worked for United Southern Industries for 25 years before retiring and was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  She enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball, playing Rook, going to the beach, cooking and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dan Kimbrell; one sister, Ruth Watson and great granddaughter, Dakota Degree.

Left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Shirley Lovelace and husband, Rudy of Mooresboro, Linda Sylvester and husband, Jim, Darlene Upton and husband, Joe, Tammy Thompson and husband, Dwayne all of Forest City; two brothers, Ray Smith of Henrietta and Mike Smith of Forest City; two sisters, Grace Ruppe and Nancy Wall both of Forest City; three special friends and unofficially adopted children, Paul Watkins, Sharon Campos and Ann Padgett. 

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.     

Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating.  Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
