Junior Cooper, age 80

Junior Cooper, age 80, of Ellenboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 27, 2023.

He was born October 4, 1942 in Rutherford County. Junior worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in bridge construction most of his adult life until retirement. He was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Lee Cooper and Flossie Rose Cooper and by a granddaughter, Leslie Marie Fish.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Mary Philbeck; two daughters, Rose Cooper Fish (Wayne) of Ellenboro and Connie Cooper Bradley (Buddy) of Rutherfordton; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held July 31 at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Ellenboro with Rev. Johnny McCarty officiating.
