Kathy Dobbins Scholarship awarded

Sarah Honeycutt of Rutherfordton is the recipient of the 2020 Kathy Dobbins Memorial Scholarship. Sarah, a recent graduate of R-S Central High School, is the daughter of Jason and Lisa Honeycutt. Currently enrolled at Isothermal Community College, Sarah hopes to become a high school teacher.

At R-S Central, Sarah was a ROPE Award recipient and a member of BETA Club and Drama Club. She is a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, where she helps work with children.

Friends and coworkers of the late Kathy Dobbins, a well-respected R-S Central humanities teacher, established the scholarship in 2012 in her memory. It is awarded to a graduating R-S Central senior planning to attend college to study some field of foreign language, humanities or language arts.
