Katie Champion, age 73

Katie Champion, age 73, of Ellenboro, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022.

Katie was born March 15, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late Otis Greenlee and Francis Clayton Greenlee. She worked in textiles most of her life and was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Champion, Sr. and a grandson, Chandler Champion.

Left to cherish fond memories are her children, Jeff Champion of Cliffside, Maria Hudson (Grady) of Ellenboro, Steve Champion, Jr. (Dannielle) of Ellenboro and Mark Champion (Crystal) of Ellenboro; sister, Doris Matheney of Rutherfordton; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held November 12 at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Philbeck.
