Largest tree-lighting crowd ever

A crowd believed to be the largest ever turned out to see Forest City Mayor Steve Holland press the button that turned on a million lights on Thanksgiving evening. Police Sgt. Jamie Hill, who was shot in the line of duty August 9, 2021, was the mayor's special guest for the switching on of the lights. Traffic control volunteers were essential for the annual ceremony. In His Glory and other guests presented special music for the evening. Forest City town staff said the crowd was probably the largest ever for the Thanksgiving evening ceremony.
