Larry "Bud" Splawn, age 82, of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Larry was born October 10, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late See Splawn and Ethel Hutchins Splawn. He worked in textiles most of his life having worked at the Cliffside Plant and the Haynes Plant. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Inez Toney, Marvin Splawn, Betty Luckadoo, Raymond Splawn and Eddie Splawn.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Lois Taylor Splawn; daughter, Tonya Charles (Scott) of Forest City; son, Rick Splawn of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Brittney Jennings (Josh), Kalla Charles (Austin Bates) and Austin Charles (Casandra); great grandchildren, Kaylee, Nate, Raegan, Leo, Maci, Lilliana and Asher.

The funeral was held December 9 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ernie Cole officiating. Military honors were provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
