Leona Greene, age 96

Leona Greene, age 96, of Forest City, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Leona was born March 28, 1923 in Cleveland County, to the late Gaither Wortman and Margaret Denton Wortman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Village Chapel. She enjoyed flower gardening, tending to her cats and being with her friends. Leona also loved her family and her church family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Greene; son, John Junior Whisenant; brother, Harold Gates; a grandson, and a great-great-grandson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Deanna Jo Norville of Connelly Springs and Jean Ross of Forest City; sister, Madine Green of Cameron, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Memorial donations are requested to the charity of choice.
