Leroy Sims, 90

Leroy Sims, 90, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Harvey Lee and Bessie Camilla Connor Sims. He was a retired loom fixer and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Shirley Scruggs Sims of the home; stepdaughter Barbara Ann Blackwell of Rutherfordton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, sisters, Martha Jean Snyder of Rutherfordton and Isa Moxley of Hickory. A special thanks to nephew James Fincannon for taking care of the farm during Mr. Sims' illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertie Sims and son, Hazel Sims.

Funeral services were held at Crowe's Mortuary with Rev. Ted Blankenship officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
