The Rutherfordton Lions Club made a presentation of a monetary donation to the representatives of three local charities during a recent meeting.
Lion Joey Buchanan presented a check to Jill Miracle of the RHI Legacy Foundation. Miracle talked with the club on the annual Diabetes Camp program.
Lion Karl Trumpler presented a check to Helen and Bobby Lynch of St. Gabriel Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton. The church has been operating a soup kitchen for 14 years and serve up to 200 people each week.
Lion Walt Vosburgh presented a check to Terry Hagerman of the Grace of God Mission in Forest City. Hagerman said they fed 200 people every day at the Mission located on Main Street in Forest City.
The second part of the program was the presentation of a plaque in memory of Lion Roger McCluney who served as a Lion for 30 years from 1989 to 2019. Both of the McCluney's sons Jeremiah and Justin expressed thanks to the Lions. Roger was killed in a traffic accident on February 26 in Rutherfordton.
