Local Memorial Day ceremonies

The Town of Lake Lure will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial (across from Lake Lure Beach) at 9 am Monday, May 30.

A complimentary continental breakfast will be served following the program.

Chairs will be available for those who may need them.

Downtown Forest City

The Town of Forest City will also hold a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday at 11 a.m. at the town square area.

The Christopher Ebert Marine Corps League will present the annual ceremony and will feature speakers from the different branches of the military.

Both ceremonies are held to honor and commemorate the sacrifices to those military men and women who laid down their lives in service to our Nation.

The Marine Corps League will also display American flags at the gravesites of fallen soldiers at the Rutherford County Cemetery.

American flags will also be

presented along Memorial Highway in Lake Lure, in downtown Forest City and across the county.
