M.A. Andrews, A Proud Father

On November 30th in Norfolk, Virginia, on board the USS Enterprise (CVN 65), in the Admirals quarters, LCDR Nicholas E. Andrews. II, USN was sworn in and promoted to a United States Naval Commander. Commander Andrews is the eldest son of M. A. Andrews and the late Roberta Andrews. He graduated from Boston University, cum laude, in Aerospace Engineering. He was first in his USN class and became the Distinguished Officer Candidate. Consequently he was  given a regular USN designation by act of U. S. Congress. He attended flight school and became a Naval Aviator serving in Afghanistan. He is a plank owner for the commissioning of the super carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). After, he was given a prestigious appointment to the Naval War College in Newport, R. I. receiving a masters degree upon graduation. He then served in Iraq for 13 months. He received commendations for service both in Afghanistan and Iraq. This year he completed courses which gave him his second Masters Degree. He is presently a member of the Admiral’s Strike Force staff headquartered on the USS Enterprise (CVN 65). He is married to Jana and they have four girls, Kylie, Emily, Aubrey and Kelsey. Admiral Kraft (shown here) administered the oath of office. A brief reception followed with Commander Andrews wife, dad, brother, two daughters and staff members in attendance.
