Mardecia Chatham of Rutherfordton

Mardecia Chatham of Rutherfordton passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Born February 18, 1968, Mardecia grew up in Cherryville, NC and was preceded in death by her father George Clinton Bo Roberson, her mother Linda Heavner Huss, her brothers Tim Roberson, and Mitch Roberson.

Mardecia moved to Rutherfordton 29 years ago when she married her husband, Mike, and joined the membership of Piedmont Baptist Church. Mardecia was a gifted artist, creating beautiful flowers with tole painting. Mardecia was known to share her faith, and witness by giving a red glass bead.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Michael Chatham of Rutherfordton, her son Tyler Chatham and wife Ashley of Mayo, SC; her daughter Ashley Chatham Koch and husband Aaron of Rutherfordton and son Aaron Chatham, also of Rutherfordton, grandsons Camden Chatham and Caiden Chatham of Chesnee, SC, her sister Renada Tucker and husband Kenneth of Lake Norman, her sister Sheree Stroud and husband Kelly of Lincolnton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held June 6 at Piedmont Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Piedmont Baptist Church.

The family is in the care of Crowe's Mortuary.
