Martha “Lib” Tate, age 87

Martha “Lib” Tate, age 87, of Forest City, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015.

      Born April 7, 1927 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Grady S. Crawley and Celia Ledbetter Crawley. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1945 and a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church and served at the Primary Class Sunday School Teacher.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Max W. Tate; one sister, Joyce Harrill; one brother, Max Crawley and grandson, Daniel Greene.

      Survivors include one son, Jimmy Tate of Forest City; two daughters, Linda Greene and husband, Richard of Boiling Springs, NC and Maxine Forrest and partner, Randy Schaffer of Maryland; three sisters, Jackie Price and Lillian Silvers both of Forest City and Carol Moser and husband, Joe of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Don Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Angie Oliver; three step-grandchildren, Debbie Greene, Terri McCurry and Lisa Faile; four great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services were conducted at Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Carnell and Reverend Shane Kirby officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

     Memorial donations are suggested to Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 2004 Chase High Road, Forest City, NC  28043 or to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

     Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services had been entrusted with arrangements.
