Mary Francis Kennedy McKern, age 80

Mary Francis Kennedy McKern, age 80, of Mooresboro, NC, passed away August 18, 2012.    Mary was born August 31, 1931 to the late Ewell Norman Kennedy and Mae Bell Sewell Kennedy.  Mary was always known for being a hardworking person. In her childhood years she picked cotton until she began to work in the textile mills.  She worked for Dover Mills for many years before her retirement.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking, shopping and especially spending time with family.  She was a committed Christian woman.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James McKern; one sister, Nell Fuller and brother, Marion Kennedy.

Survivors include her three children, Barbara McKern, Ricky McKern and Shawn McKern all of Mooresboro; two brothers, John Kennedy and Stanley Kennedy; two sisters, Betty Saylors and Carolyn McCurley; three grandchildren, Carissa Sisk of Shelby, Kristy Willis of Lawndale and Megan Hodge of Bessemer City; two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Roger Woodard officiating.  Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
