Mary "Granny" Weast, age 96

Mary "Granny" Weast, age 96, of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

Granny was born August 6, 1923 in Rutherford County to the late Elijah Greene and Hester Conner Greene.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Weast; four brothers, Furman, Leroy, William and Charles Greene and a sister, Lucille Dobbins.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Joyce Johnson (Bobby) and Elizabeth "Lib" Ledbetter (Dewitt) all of Forest City; son, Frank Weast of Rutherfordton and four of seven grandchildren which she raised as her own. She is also survived by grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at Wilson Baptist Church. Interment followed at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
