Max Burgin Honored

Rev. Col. Max Burgin was honored Wednesday afternoon, August 7 by Rep. Patrick McHenry of the U.S. House of Representatives. The retired U.S. Army Chaplain who recently received the Order Of The Long Leaf Pine from Gov. Roy Cooper and has many other civilian and military honors is shown here with (from left) Clerk Of Court Steve Owens, Chief Deputy Ricky McKinney, Sheriff Chris Francis, County Commissioner Eddie Holland, Burgin's wife of 57 years, Mickey, Burgin, Kenneth McGinnis, McHenry, Barbara McGinnis, and WCAB's Jim Bishop. The flag McHenry is holding was flown over the U.S. Capital. In presenting the flag to Burgin, the congressman said, "It is because of soldiers like you that this flag can fly over the capital." McHenry also praised Burgin for "your service to the Lord."
