Melita Paberz Vedejs passed away in Chelsea, MI May 11, 2025.
She was born March 14, 1941 in Tukums, Latvia. At age 9 she came to America via Ellis Island to Forest City. The First Baptist Church of Forest City sponsored her family's coming to America and welcomed them with love and friendship.
In addition to her parents Janis and Lina Paberz, she was preceded in death by her sister Lilija Allison and brother Miervaldis "Bill".
Melita is survived by her children Michael "Mike" Vedejs and Christi Mersereau (Jacques).
Melita excelled in sports and arts in high school and continued her education at the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She married Dr. Edward Vedejs, and enjoyed a career with Mueller Sports Medicine.
Upon retiring she became a resident of Chelsea, Michigan.
