Michael Austin Long, "Mike", age 77

Michael Austin Long, "Mike", age 77 of Rutherfordton passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

A native of Rutherford County, Mike was a graduate of R.S. Central High School Class of 1962 and attended Appalachian State University and Gardner-Webb University. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, a former member of the Lion's Club, retired from Lowe's and was a loyal Duke fan.

Mike is survived by his wife, Judy Revis Long, one brother, Bart Long, one nephew, one niece, his beloved dog, and a number of other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Horace Long, his mother, Doris Edwards Long, and two sisters, Ellen Petty and Pat Ledford.

A funeral service was held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church Interment followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
