MLK Walk draws dozens to downtown Rutherfordton

The annual Martin Luther King Walk was held Saturday with dozens attending the event that began in front of the Rutherford County Courthouse. After a few words, the walkers crossed the street and walked past the former St. John's church and to Kiwanis Park in Rutherfordton. Community leaders addressed the crowds and music was presented by Ruffton Acoustic Jam and MLK Community Choir. Sponsored by the Dr. MLK Jr. Committee of the New Hope Community, the event had to be postponed on two occasions due to inclement weather.
