MMC/SW, Dennis W. Towery, USN, Retired, age 60 of Orlando, Florida, died January 21, 2022.

Dennis was born August 3, 1960, in Rutherford County and is the son of Jolayne Tate Towery and the late Walter Towery. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School and attended Western Carolina University. Dennis was a member of Floyd's Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Towery in 2015.

Dennis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from September 1981 until October 2001 where he retired at the rank of MMC/SW. He served in Desert Storm and the Cold War.

Chief Towery received numerous citations including the Navy Achievement Medal and subsequent Gold Stars from the Secretary of the Navy for superior achievement during his Naval career.

Survivors include his wife, Carol B. Towery, daughter, Brooke Towery, mother, Jolayne Tate Towery, brother, Randy Towery, and much-loved grandchildren, London and Rome Hird.

The funeral service was held January 29, 2022, at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church, Forest City. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by the U.S. Navy.
