Mr. E. L. Whiteside, age 90

Mr. E. L. Whiteside, age 90 of Spindale died Monday, June 13, 2022.

E.L. was born on June 18, 1931, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Garland and Iva Sue Womack Whiteside.

He was retired from Stonecutter Mills Corporation with 43 year's service in 1995. He was a member of Missionary Wesleyan Church. E.L. served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Max Whiteside.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lois Johnson Whiteside, sons, Jimmy Whiteside and wife Sheila, and Jerry Whiteside all of Rutherfordton, sister, Lillie Belle Biggerstaff of Rutherfordton, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held June 17 with Rev. Jason Madison officiating. Military Honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
