Nancy Phillips Burns, age 86

Nancy Phillips Burns, age 86, of Iron Station, NC, formerly of Rutherfordton, died Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Nancy was born January 25, 1936, in Greer, SC, to Bruce and Idilla Phillips and was raised by her grandparents, Gary and Maude Armstrong.

Nancy was an interior designer, having worked for Grindstaff Interiors for over 40 years upon her retirement, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Forest City.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carson Burns Sr., and a son John C. Burns, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Nina Gettys and husband Mike of Duncan's Creek; Carson Goff and husband Geoff of Iron Station; and Martha Ogburn and husband Dan of Charlotte, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at 3pm Saturday, Jan. 28 at Duncan's Creek Church, with Rev. Tonya Garrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm prior to the service at Padgett & King Mortuary.
