Pat Nanney was named the Kiwanian of the Year Monday afternoon by the Forest City Kiwanis Club.

Nanney, a native of Rutherford County, is a familiar face around the county photographing events, festivals and newsworthy happenings that are published in Rutherford Weekly and on his Facebook post.

Nanney, with a career in radio and with McCurry-Deck Motors, continues his popular True Oldies Downtown Radio as a DJ on WAGY. Pat is also the recipient of the NC Main Street Champion for the Town of Forest City. He was recognized by the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center.

Jim Bishop made the much deserved presentation Monday at the meeting of the Kiwanis.

"The Kiwanis Club of Forest City for decades has recognized a Forest City resident who has gone beyond their daily jobs in order to help their community or someone in the community. Pat has shown himself to be someone who is willing to be a part of the community and many lives are touched by his friendship and support of the activities of Forest City. This is a well deserved honor for a man who never retires, just moves on to another opportunity. The Kiwanis Club was happy to honor Pat in this way." stated the Kiwanis Club.
