Nellie Ruth Matheson passed away on October 27, 2012.

Ruth was born on August 14th, 1926 and in 1947, married Bill Matheson, a man who served our country in the army. Ruth and Bill lived a life that most could only dream of. With four children in tow, they traveled the United States and Mexico and lived in over 15 states.

Of all of Bill and Ruth’s achievements, their greatest was their children - Sandy, Teresa, Sharon and the late Junior Matheson. Teresa would provide Ruth with three grandchildren - Jordan, Meghan and the late Patrick Morris, a gentle soul who, along with Bill and Junior, is surely showing Ruth around Heaven. Sandy gave birth to Ruth’s grandson Brian, who followed in Bill’s footsteps and joined the army immediately after graduating high school. It would be Brian, a decorated war veteran, who would provide Ruth with three great-grandchildren. Granddaughter, Larissa would provide her with one more.  Ruth and Bill loved their grandchildren and helped raise each and every one of them, largely on baked macaroni and cheese, fried egg sandwiches, John Wayne movies, fried chicken and nightly mandatory Wheel of Fortune. Though Ruth never believed man landed on the moon, she devoutly believed in God and her savior, Jesus Christ. Ruth read her bible each and every single night, often sharing passages with her grandchildren. Her favorite passage was Psalm 23.

Ruth is survived by daughter Sandra and husband Larry Lawing, daughter Sharon and husband Glenn Rector and daughter Teresa Matheson-Morris. She is survived by grandchildren SFC Brian Watson and wife Kristie, Larissa Foster and husband Todd, Jordan Morris and Meghan Graham Morris. Ruth is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Sydni, Zachary, Allison and Travis. Ruth will live in each of our hearts forever.

Crowe’s Mortuary is serving the family.
