Community leaders joined the Fairview community to formally reopen 2nd Street Park in Rutherfordton. The Park has a new fresh look and a new name. The new Fairview Park features a new basketball court with lights, a new picnic shelter, a bathroom, a water fountain, swings, and a totally new unique play feature. The park project came as part of an effort to establish a grassroots community redevelopment plan led by the Rutherfordton Redevelopment Commission which has been convening community members to establish a vision to restore families and community to the Fairview and New Hope neighbors of Rutherfordton. Fairview Park is the first milestone project of many working projects in the works for infrastructure, home repairs, and new affordable housing.

Fairview Park would not have been possible without support from the Forney and Hamilton Families, the Fairview Community, and the Town Council working together.

Financial Support came via a grant from the RHI Legacy Foundation and work completed by the Rutherfordton Public Works Department. A wonderful piece of art is on display showing the park's heritage by the father and daughter, Mikal & Mikalah Mahammad, who grew up in the Fairview Community.

Pastor Jeff Conley of Mountain View Baptist Church offered a blessing over the park as a beacon of hope in the community and a place to unify all together for a brighter future.
