Linda Jeanne Harrill assists Spindale mayor Mickey Bland in unveiling the mill worker brick statue during Spindale's Centennial Block Party Saturday. The covered statue had created a stir in Spindale even resulting in calls from concerned citizens to the 911 communications center. Harrill had seen a statue of this type and brought the idea back to her hometown. She sold T-shirts and encouraged contributions to help make the statue honoring the town's textile heritage a reality. She expressed her thanks to everyone who helped by contributing funds for the project. There is talk of adding a statue of a female mill worker to the site in front of the Spindale House in the future.
