New Year's baby is a girl

Rutherford County's first baby born in 2022 is Ayla Carolina Chavez- Smith.

Weighing 7 pounds and 14.5 ounces Ayla was born to parents, Chawntel and Jesus, Saturday, January 1 at 2:04 a.m. at Rutherford Regional's Birth Place.

"We are so excited to meet the newest member of our family," said Chawntel. "We are so grateful to the physicians, nurses and staff at The Birth Place for taking such good care of us and making this experience special for our family."

"Our clinical and support staff are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for moms and babies," said Dr. Susan Lee, Chief of OB/GYN at Rutherford Regional Health System. "It is one of our great privileges to help our community's families welcome their newest additions in a positive and memorable way."
