Oliver Smart, age 86

Oliver Smart, age 86, of Ellenboro passed away February 18, 2022.

Oliver was born November 8, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Thomas Oliver Smart and Ruth Mitchell Smart. He worked at Burlington Industries for over 35 years and was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Newton.

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann Pitts Smart; daughters, Robin Dobbins (Bruce) and Rhonda Byers (Randy) all of Ellenboro; son, Jimmy Smart (Renee) of Mooresboro; sister, Carolyn Rhom (Steve) of Forest City and brothers, Howard "Gone" Smart of Henrietta and Steve Smart (Carolyn) of Forest City. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted February 21, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Poteat and Rev. Shane Adkins officiating.
