Working with local non-profits such as the United Way and Rutherford Housing Partnership, several members of the Forest City Owls front office volunteered for Rutherford County’s Annual Week of Caring.

From October 20th-27th, businesses and locals have the opportunity to volunteer and help those who are in need with everything from home remodeling and painting, to building handicap ramps and performing yard maintenance. GM Jeremy Boler, Assistant GM Denise Holland and Director of Fun Tyler Parsons each took on the task of helping out in the community, and dutifully volunteered their time at a local senior citizens home to perform general landscaping duties.

“Wherever I have been, I continually tell people about the Owls approach to giving back in the community,” added Boler. “This was a great opportunity for us to step up and not only make a positive impact in the community, but to also put some smiles on faces of the people who attend our games.”

Whether it is supporting local causes or bringing their famous mascots Hoot and Annie out, the Forest City Owls are always open to supporting Rutherford County and beyond. If the 2012 was considered the “Season of the Give-Back”, then 2013 will definitely be a continuation of that.

Saturday, October 27th is recognized as National Make A Difference Day, and there are many ways to make a difference. For more information on how you can help out, please call 828-248-3431.

Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 57 alums make their Major League debut thus far.
