Peggy Jean Waters Barker, age 80

Peggy Jean Waters Barker, age 80 of Forest City, died September 7, 2021.

Born November 6, 1940, in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Murtis Biggerstaff and John Arthur Waters. She was a faithful member of Goode's Creek Baptist Church and was an accomplished seamstress for many years having made many bridesmaid dresses and choir robes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Waters.

Surviving are husband of 61 years, James Franklin Barker; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Arthur Barker and wife, Denise of Forest City; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Barker Dalton and husband, Kevin of Forest City; sister, Cathy Butler and husband, Steve of Bostic; brothers, Claude Waters and wife, Elaine of Rutherfordton, and Floyd Waters of Caroleen; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held September 9, 2021 at Goode's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Walker and the Rev. Kenneth Linder officiating. Interment followed at Race Path Baptist Church Cemetery.
