Phil Rogers named Wells Fargo Region 8 Principal of the Year for 2024

In a surprise ceremony held Tuesday at R-S Central High School, Principal Phil Rogers was officially honored as the Wells Fargo Region 8 Principal of the Year for 2024. The announcement was made by Superintendent David Sutton and Donna Bledsoe, the reigning NC Principal of the Year.

Bledsoe, in making the announcement, said Rogers' "legacy of leadership" was being recognized.

Rogers, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and innovation in the field of education, was selected as the representative for Region 8, showcasing the exemplary work being done at R-S Central High School. The Wells Fargo Principal of the Year Award recognizes outstanding principals for their commitment to excellence and their positive impact on students, staff, and the community.

Bledsoe, herself a distinguished figure in education, spoke highly of Phil Rogers during the surprise ceremony. She commended his unwavering commitment to fostering a positive and enriching learning environment, his innovative approaches to education, and his leadership in advancing educational outcomes for students.

As the Wells Fargo Region 8 Principal of the Year, Rogers now advances to the state-level competition, where he will compete against other regional winners for the prestigious title of North Carolina Principal of the Year for 2024. This accolade is highly regarded within the education community and symbolizes the pinnacle of leadership and excellence in school administration.

In his tenure at R-S Central High School, Rogers has implemented transformative initiatives that have positively impacted the academic and personal development of students.
