Phillip Hoyle Hardin age 73 of Ellenboro, NC died Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

A native of Rutherford County, he was born March 24, 1949 a son of the late Thomas Hoyle Hardin and Sue Bradley Hardin. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School and later retired from Clayton Homes. Phil was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

Phil served in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, and he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as an officer with both the Spindale Police Dept. and Rutherford County Sheriffs Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Penny Hardin.

Surviving are sons, Barrett Hardin and wife, Jennifer of Punta Gorda, FL and Jason Hardin and wife, Amie of Forest City, seven grandchildren, sisters Janice Hardin Haynes of Bostic, and Marsha Hardin Singlevich of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Fred Hardin of Riva, MD.

Funeral services were held September 9 at Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Scott officiating. Military Honors were rendered by Rutherford County Honor Guard.
