Phyllis Maxine Sluder Black, 82

Phyllis Maxine Sluder Black, 82, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Macie Haney Sluder. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Harry Franklin Black; son Kevin Black and wife Tami; daughter Beverly Black and husband Greg Mode; one grandchild, two great grandchildren; brother, James Sluder; sister, Betty Waters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, D.R. Sluder, Gay Sluder and Denver Sluder, and a sister, Marie Stanfield.

Funeral services were held at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Wilkins, and Rev. Allan Hall officiating. Interment was held in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043, or Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 Sulphur Springs Road, Forest City, NC 28043.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
