Independence Day, more commonly known as the Fourth of July is the holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 declaring our independence from Great Britain. It’s our birthday!
As we celebrate this day there are fireworks, family get togethers, concerts, barbecues, picnics, baseball games and parades as we salute this very important day. Since our nations birth, all of us know this day is something very special.
Throughout Rutherford County we’re invited to join in the celebration. On July 4th we can go to the fun times at the McNair Field with the Forest City Owls. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7:30 p.m followed by the spectacular fireworks display.
Also on July 4th, you can go to Lake Lure for the sensational fireworks display put on by Rumbling Bald Resort. Residents and visitors flock to this event, the annual celebration starts at sundown. You can rent a pontoon boat or cruise to the North end of the lake for a great view.
If you miss any of these celebrations, you can be a part of the fireworks from the beach at Lake Lure on Saturday, July 6th. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the big show. The beach will close at 6 p.m. and then reopen at 8 p.m. for the fireworks. The big show starts at sundown.
