Polar Plunge on New Year's Day

The 9th Annual New Year's Day Polar Plunge in Lake Lure will be held Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa Pool.

This is the second year the event will be held at the pool; the lowering of the lake level prohibits the event being held there.

The plunge is open to all, and will begin at noon. Registration will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and cost is $20 per person.

Prizes will be given to the oldest and youngest plungers, those who traveled the most distance, best costume, etc.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge and Hickory Nut Gorge first responders.
