Ray Junior Ferguson, age 73

Ray Junior Ferguson, age 73 of Rutherfordton, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Junior was born on August 22, 1947 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Ellis Ferguson and Cleo Greene Ferguson.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ellis Jay Ferguson, and brothers, Clifford and Gene Ferguson.


 Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Wanda Edney Ferguson of the home, a daughter, Jennifer Ferguson McCluney and husband Justin, his sister, Lois Whitesides, and three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at The Padgett and King Chapel with interment following at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Military honors were accorded at the graveside by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
