Ray Richards, age 85

Ray Richards, age 85, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025.

A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Clemmie Roy and Leila Chapman Richards. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Ann Skipper Richards; sister, Mildred Brittain (Bill), sister, Margie Gettys (Frank) .

Ray retired from the textile industry, having been a supervisor with Stonecutter Mills. He was a member of Green River Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher for nearly 50 years.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Dena Richards Ramsey and husband Terry of Forest City; one grandson, Josh Pruitt of Wake Forest; one sister, Edith Monday and husband David of Morganton; a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held September 9 at Green River Baptist Church with Josh Pruitt and Rev. Gary Curtis officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
