Ray Shires, age 79

Ray Shires, age 79, of Ellenboro, passed away, Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Ray was born April 21, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Edward Howard Shires and Beatrice Rogers Shires. He owned and operated Ray Shires Auto Bargains in Thomasville, for over 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his late wife, Helen Shires; daughter, Amie Sifferlen; son, Gary Shires; sisters, Sue Terry, Betty Hamrick and a great grandson, Carter Shires.

Those left to treasure his memory include his brother, James Monroe Shires of Ellenboro; sister, Nancy Hoyle of Forest City; daughter, Beatrice Shires of Ellenboro; sons, Timothy Shires and Eric Shires both of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shires is donating his body for medical science research.

A private celebration of life will be conducted for family and friends.
