Listen To Life
Do you decorate?
I really love the Christmas and New Year’s holidays what with all of the decorations. You go to an office building, there are decorations.  You go shopping, there are decorations.  You drive through a neighborhood, there are many fine examples of exterior illumination displays that would make Clark Griswold envious.  Even some truckers hang wreaths on the front of their rigs to celebrate.

Outdoor Truths
Outdoor Truths
Each morning I walked about three-fourths of a mile in order to get to my stand. I had cut limbs and bushes and out of the way and yet there was one area where I had to navigate around several tree-laps and weeds. I could have gone another way but this seemed to be the best direction if I was to leave the smallest footprint. The problem was not maneuvering the fallen trees; it was dodging those little cockleburs that attached themselves to my clothes. Every morning, while watching deer, I found myself picking off burr after burr without ever getting them all. One evening, after a hunt, I had the great idea of just putting the infested clothing in the wash and letting an agitator get rid of my agitation. It didn’t work. Those little things hung on like a kid at a water park. They say these were the inspiration behind Velcro. I can’t help but believe this to be true.

“It’s Just Giving Back!”
His name is Ken Dellinger who, together with his wife Diane, hosted his second annual Christmas Party for the handicapped and people of special needs. They have also hosted Valentine, Easter, Halloween parties as well as cookouts for their favorite people.

It all started because they wanted to do something to honor their daughter Kelly. Kelly was a special needs child and now, because of her, others are benefiting.

Rivalry Clash Ends In Draw
Rivalry Clash Ends In Draw
A good crowd came to The Palace for the showdown between East Rutherford and R-S Central last Tuesday.

In Rutherfordton, both schools left no doubt about who was playing better at this point in time of the season.

East Rutherford reeled off a 9-0 run to begin the game and never really looked back. The Cavs Raheem Hampton splashed a three-ball from the left wing to end the half as East led 42-21 at the break.

Local Basketball Still Faring Well in Early Season
Local Basketball Still Faring Well in Early Season
Last week was another solid effort for Rutherford county high school basketball teams. They fared well at 10-6 in contest before non-conference hit this week.

East Rutherford continues its sizzling offensive production with two more of those last week. After leading 45-22 at the half, they downed A.C. Reynolds in a 78-45 non-conference win. In the latter half of the week, East dispatched of Hunter Huss, 83-63.

Timing is everything. Have you ever just felt like you were out of sync with what was going on in the woods or on the water? Sometimes it seems that on the days that you can go fishing, the weather is terrible or the fish are uncooperative. And on the days that you can’t go or just decide not to go, those are the days that limits are caught in the first hour. It’s the same with hunting. It seems sometimes, on the days that I go deer hunting that the deer are not stirring. But let me stay home one morning and they’re everywhere. Timing is everything, and most of the time, we are usually “one day late and a dollar short.”
