Reverend John Jay Huntley, Sr., age 98

Reverend John Jay Huntley, Sr., age 98, of Forest City, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019.

Preacher John was the son of the late Jesse and Nancy Huntley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Crook Huntley, his brothers; Rev. William "Buck" Huntley, David "Tom" Huntley, Rev. Ted Huntley, Monroe Huntley, George Huntley, Rev. Wade Huntley; sisters Lillian Curtis, Charlotte Ludlum, Molly Lefteris and Catherine DeWitt.

He preached the gospel over 65 years throughout Western North Carolina and Tennessee. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII.

Survivors include his wife: Jessie Skipper Huntley. One daughter, Nancy Huntley Deaver and her husband Mack. One son, John J Huntley, Jr. and his wife Karen. Two grandchildren, Two great grandchildren. Two sister-in-laws: Cleo Huntley and Irene Huntley.

The funeral service was at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Interment was held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, NC.
