Reverend Joseph C. "J.C." Sinclair, Jr., age 89 of Campobello, South Carolina, and a former resident of Rutherford County, died December 1, 2021.

J.C. was born in Rutherford County on April 6, 1932, and was a son of the late Joseph Clinton (Jake) Sinclair, Sr., and Mary McDade Sinclair.

He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School. He attended Gardner-Webb College and was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute. J.C. served honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1954. He then served from 1954 until 1962 in the US Army Reserves.

J.C. was a Baptist minister. After retirement, he, and his wife Virl, returned to Rutherford County where he was a member of Adaville Baptist Church. Most recently he attended Oak Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virl Bradley Sinclair in 2009 and a son-in-law, Charlie Weaver.

Survivors include his wife, Ina Cooper of Spindale, son, Joseph C. "Joey" Sinclair, III of Inman, SC, daughters, Cathy S. Hyder and husband Joseph of Campobello, SC, Cindy S. Weaver of Inman, SC, sisters, Catherine S. Washburn of Bostic, and Brenda S. Farrell of Cane Creek, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral was held December 4, 2021, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Darold Crawford and Rev. Jonathan Weaver officiating.
