Reverend William E. Swink, age 73

Reverend William E. Swink, age 73, of Rutherfordton, NC, went to be with the Lord May 1, 2022.

He was the son of the late Mat and Alice Swink, and he was a native of Abbeville County, SC. William surrendered to preach at the age of 16 and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He served on the Board of Directors for the NC Baptist State Convention.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Holliday Swink, and his sister, Shirley Bordner.

He is survived by daughters, Bonnie Powell (Sammy), Karen Blackburn (Kenny), nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held May 4, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. James Henson, Rev. Donald Hollifield, and Rev. Dr. David Jendrey officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, in memory of Rev. William Swink; 563 Pleasant Hill Church Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
