Richard Lewis Ward, age 89, of Rutherfordton

Richard Lewis Ward, age 89, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to meet his Lord and Savior Monday, September 1, 2025.

A native of Rutherford County, Lewis was the son of the late Richard Ward and Essie Walker Ward. He was a member at Oak Springs Baptist Church, and co-owner A&W Sandblasting.

In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his three sisters, Marjorie White, Lillian Gibson, Louise Haulk.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Conner Ward, brother-in-law, George Conner, two sisters-in-law, Linda Conner Waters, and Kathy Ware Conner, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of life was held at Oak Springs Baptist Church on September 6 with Rev. Don Hollifield and Rev. Todd Westfall officiating.

McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
