Robert Cecil Vickers, age 91

Robert Cecil Vickers, age 91 of Forest City died Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Born December 21, 1930, in Rutherford County, NC he was a son of the late James Robert Vickers and Grace Scoggins Vickers. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army and also served in the National Guard. Cecil worked for Spindale Mills and the New Cherokee Corporation for 46 years, was a faithful member of the Crestview Baptist Church. He was also a former member of the Danieltown Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Helen Shehan Vickers and by his brother, Clyde M. Vickers.

Surviving are his son, Robert Scott Vickers and wife, Denita of Forest City, and his daughter, Debbie Vickers Harris and husband, Scott of Rutherfordton; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held May 24 at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Rohm officiating.
