Robert Horton, 81

Robert Horton, 81, of Sunshine, son of the late Clyde Pannel and Sarah Ellis Green Horton, passed away Friday, June 10.

Robert served in both the U.S. Navy and Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a truck driver for Carolina Freight and ABF for 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers C.P., Howard, Charles "Wink," and Carl "Bo" Horton, and sister Margaret Upton.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Tamara Horton, daughter and son-in-law Susan and Wayne Westbrook, two grandchildren, all of Sunshine, sisters Grace Newton of Andrews and Martha Buchanan of Shelby, numerous nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, there will be no services.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Symphony of Rutherford County.
