Robert Kench "Kenchie" Sims, age 85

Robert Kench "Kenchie" Sims, age 85 passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026.

A native of Rutherford County he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Gilkey Church of God, and worked as a pipe welder in construction.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Rachel Crain Sims. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded by his parents Robert and Mattie Sims and several siblings.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Lisa Sims Tuttle and husband Wade; two grandchildren Jason Tuttle and wife Rebecca, Clint Tuttle and wife Rebecca; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Sims and wife Judy.

A graveside service was held September 9 at Gilkey Church of God with Rev. Don Johnson officiating with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
