Robert Lee "Bobby" Wall, Jr., age 81 of Rutherfordton passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Bobby was born November 8, 1936 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Robert Lee Wall, Sr. and Margaret Louise Butler Hill.

He worked as a life and health insurance representative since 1959 having operated his own agency for many years. He was a graduate of the Life Underwriting Training Council at Cleveland Technical College, a recipient of seven President Club Awards and 1982 winner of the National Quality Award. He also served four years on the Rutherford County Life Underwriters and served as chairperson of the Political Action Committee.

Bobby was a member of the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton and served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1954 until 1959. As a lifelong Democrat, he was very active in the Rutherford County Democrat Party and served as its chairman. He served two years on the Democratic Executive Senatorial Committee, served on the 1976 Presidential committee and as campaign co-coordinator for Senator Bo Thomas campaign. He also served as coordinator for the campaigns of Lt. Governor Jimmy Greene and Lt. Governor Bob Jordan.

Survivors include a daughter, Lu Ann Wall (Duane Gettys) of Rutherfordton, a son, Roy Wall (Janet) of Asheville, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held for the family. Memorials may be made in his memory to St Francis Episcopal Church, 395 North Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

The Padgett and King Mortuary & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
