Robert William Carpenter, age 75

Robert William Carpenter, age 75, of Ellenboro, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019.

Robert was born July 22, 1944 in Rutherford County, to the late Everett Clarence Carpenter and Williemetto Fite Carpenter. He worked for Fast Food Merchandise for twenty-two years before retirement and for the Maintenance Department at the Ellenboro Town Hall. Robert was a long time and faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, Adult Sunday School teacher and on the pulpit committee. He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan and enjoyed gardening. He was dedicated to his family, his church and to his God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, C.O., Everett Jr., Charlie and Harvey Carpenter and two sisters, Elaine Connor and Joann Cook.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Geraldine Sams Carpenter; daughter, Tammy Scruggs (Todd) of Ellenboro; son, Reggie Carpenter (Robin) of Caroleen and a sister, Darcus Revels (Gerald) of Forest City. Five grandchildren also survive him.

The funeral service was conducted at Victory Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
