"Are you an avid runner? Are you a beginner runner? Do you want to participate with lots of other runners in your community and find others interested in the same sport as you?" asks Gabe Isaac, Outdoor Programs Director at Rutherford Outdoor Coalition.

"The Rutherford Outdoor Coalition's Annual Race Series is a great way to get fit, get involved with your community, and find camaraderie in the sport of running," she said.

ROC announces the 2023 Race Series will have 12 races beginning on Feb. 25 and concluding on Dec. 10 to conclude the series with prizes and drawings.

Among the fun of the racing, at each race there's a drawing for two winners of a free large pizza from Barley's Taproom and two winners of a $10 gift card to Copper Penny. At the end of the series, overall placers win cash prizes and age group winners get gift cards.

The ROC Running Race Series is a group of running events within Rutherford County held throughout a calendar year. ROC compiles the races into a series to promote all the races as a unit and help each individual race. Not only does ROC create a platform for runners to find all these local races, it also offers special rewards for runners who do multiple races.

The awesome thing about participating in the ROC Race Series is that 5k (and some 10k) races all around Rutherford County can be found in one place on ROCs website, in the all-new Race Series Newsletter, and that participating in the first three races could win runners some extra rewards.

ROC celebrates runners at the end of the year with prizes for multi-race runners: some trophies, some cash, and maybe even some ROC swag, Isaac says.

Ultimately, the reason for running in the ROC Running Race Series is simple. Each race supports a specific cause that can resonate with runners (see more about the races on ROC Running Series webpage).

Founded in 2003, this year will be ROC's 20th anniversary.

The Rutherford Outdoor Coalition is a grassroots non-profit organization founded to promote and expand sustainable outdoor recreation mainly in Rutherford County. It all started as a way to bring people together through community and play in this uniquely beautiful part of the world. ROC provides information on local sites to hike, paddle, run, and bike and provide them with access and outings. The ROC Race Series is another way we encourage people to enjoy the outdoors in the area and support the local community.
